To staff and students of Broadford Secondary College:
I write to convey my gratitude for representing not just our region, but also our nation, during your time touring the battlefields of Europe.
While you laid a wreath at the Menin Gate in Belgium, millions of people across Australia paused to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice. Your contribution to a significant moment in our history as a nation is something I hope you treasure for many years to come.
I am so impressed that you have taken the time to connect not just with the stories of your own families, but also those of other veterans who came from Broadford. I’m sure you would agree that our region knows better than most the high price of war.
I look forward to hearing your own accounts of your experiences when you get home. Travel safely!
